Chelsea Winstanley graduated from EAVE in October 2011. She is an independent producer, writer and director and has been involved in the industry for over 10 years. Throughout her career she has produced and directed Film, TV Series, Documentaries and Short Films.
Chelsea coproduced her first short film in (2007) and produced several shorts that have premiered in Cannes, Sundance and Berlin. Her feature credits include WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS (2014) the hilarious mockumentary by Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement. SAVING GRACE (2010) - A film the legendary M?ori filmmaker Merata Mita was making when she passed away, this screened in Berlinale\'s Native programme 2016.
Chelsea recently made her directing debut with WARU - a film consisting of 8 short vignettes which screened in TIFF (2017) in the Discovery section.
She is currently in post production with a Documentary feature MERATA; How mum decolonised the screen. She is also writing her debut feature THE APPEAL and in preproduction on her next two shorts LITTLE KING and FOUND YOU which she will write and direct.
JOJO Rabbit - the next feature film from Taika Waititi, that Chelsea took to Berlinale Co-Pro Market in 2012 has just been picked up by Fox Searchlight. Principle photography will begin late May 2018.
