My name is Paulo Leite. I was born in Recife, Brazil. I love horror films. In fact, my earliest memories of the movies go back to me, all curled up on dad\'s chest, watching old British horror films from Hammer and Amicus. The power of cinema became clear the night I saw a TV trailer for THE SHINING. I remember thinking \"Wow, I\'ve got to watch this film!\". That is the same desire I hope someday I\'ll plant in the audience\'s mind. At the age of 16, I came to live in Lisbon, Portugal. A few years later, I started working as an Assistant Director for Portuguese TV. My hunger for films drove me to abandon that job and go to Film School. Finally I was at a place where all I had to do was talk about films - and get high grades for that (laughs). My first degree was in Film Production. Then I went on to work in the production of many Portuguese films. Then someone at my old Film School was crazy enough to invite me to be a teacher there. Then I proceeded to take another degree in Scriptwriting and after that, a Master\'s Degree. Along the road, I worked in feature films, shorts, advertising films and videoclips. Deep inside, however, I felt I had betrayed the inner child inside me, since all the Portuguese films I\'ve ever done were boring subsidized films nobody cared about. Then a monster came in a wonderful dream and said to me \"follow your heart\". And then I knew I had been lying to myself. I must change my life. I want to produce horror films. Producing films is not difficult IF you love what you do. \"Difficult\" happens ONLY IF you hate what you do (not my case). The worst that Film Production does is to demand a Herculean amount of work. But that\'s also part of the pleasure of producing. And here are three principles that I follow: a) talk straight, b) talk clear, c) talk now. And since I love to meet new friends, let\'s talk!

Donate to the EAVE Alan Fountain International Scholarship Fund

A scholarship has been set up to honour the memory of Alan Fountain, former Head of Studies and President of EAVE, who passed away on March 3. Its goal is to enable one producer from outside the EU to participate in all three sessions of the EAVE Producers Workshop each year.
