Emilie Upczak is a filmmaker and programmer. Originally from Boulder, Colorado she is now based in Port of Spain and is currently an MFA candidate in Film at Vermont College of Fine Arts. She is also the Creative Director of the trinidad+tobago film festival spearheading the Caribbean Film Mart and Regional Database and serves as a director of New World Film Centre.
Emilie’s video installations and short films have been exhibited at PG Contemporary in Houston, AIR Gallery in Brooklyn, the Festival International Signes de Nuit in France. Her short films have played at the San Francisco Black Film Festival, Caribbean Film Corner, London, Bahamas International Film Festival, Directors Circle Festival Of Shorts, Antigua Film Festival, San Diego Black Film Festival, African World Diaspora Film Festival, Belize International Film Festival and the NY African Diasporic International Film Festival.
Emilie is currently an associate producer on the feature film, Play the Devil, directed by Maria Govan and working on the feature film Doubles With Slight Pepper directed by Ian Harnarine. She is also in pre-production on her debut feature to be shot in Trinidad in 2015.
